Join us Wednesday morning at 7:30am in the Great Hall - Kitchi Gammi Club (831 E. Superior St., Duluth, MN 55802) as we hear from Drew Markey, YMCA Camp Miller Executive Director.
Drew Markey is the new Executive Director at Camp Miller. He arrived in Minnesota in early March and has been loving every day in the role and getting to know Camp Miller and the greater YMCA Community. Before Camp Miller, Markey served as the Senior Program Director and Environmental Stewardship Program Executive at YMCA Camp Erdman in Hawaii.
After graduating from Loyola University Chicago with a degree in Communications and Sports Management, Markey found himself at a YMCA summer camp to be a camp counselor for the first time. He quickly realized what a transformative, welcoming, and impactful place Camp is, and he felt as though he had missed out as a child on such a great experience. Since 2017, it has been his career goal to continue fostering and creating that space for kids to enjoy. Markey has worked his way through being the Director of a summer camp, family camps, retreats, and outdoor education programming to now be the Executive Director of Camp Miller.
Outside of work, Markey enjoys doing triathlons, playing soccer, fishing, collecting sports cards/memorabilia, and kicking his feet up on the couch.

You probably know that Rotary and its partners have reduced cases of polio by 99.9%. But that's not the whole story. All along the way, Rotary members have helped those same communities access clean water, other vaccines and healthcare, and a host of basic services. Learn about the many pluses of the PolioPlus program in our report from Pakistan.
World Polio Day is 24 October, and we've got more stories of Rotary's impact as well as a profile of an unsung pioneer of polio research: Dorothy Horstmann. Without her discovery, there might never have been a polio vaccine.
In the Our World section, find out what researchers — and Rotarians — have to say about tennis and the evidence that it could help you live longer.
In this month's Our Clubs report, meet some Rotary members from Barcelona who are amplifying their impact by building bridges across generations. Then, get ready to go to Barcelona for real and register for the Rotary International Convention in that captivating city.
