Join us Wednesday morning in the Great Hall - Kitchi Gammi Club (831 E. Superior St., Duluth, MN 55802) at 7:30am as we hear from Barb Huberty, St. Louis River Area of Concern Coordinator for the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.
Huberty has served in her position since January 2018, helping to ensure that all local, state, federal, and tribal partners are working together to achieve delisting.
Prior to arriving in Duluth, Huberty served as the Director of the Legislative Water Commission, helping its bipartisan members understand MN’s water issues. Before her state service, she was the Environmental Division Manager for the Rochester Public Works Department and the Environmental Analyst for Olmsted County, focusing on permit compliance for their storm water and solid waste programs, respectively. Before switching to environmental management, Barb spent seven school years teaching a variety of science subjects to students in grades 7 through 12 in three MN districts. She has also worked in the non-profit and private business sectors.
Huberty has a B.S. degrees in Biology and Secondary Science Education from the University of MN. During her free time, she likes to hike, paddle, camp, curl, and read.
We are going to hold another all-Jr. Rotarian breakfast with the committee on February 14 at 7:15 AM at the Kitchi Gammi Club.
At this meeting, we will spend some time in small groups discussing your ideas and finalizing your $1,000 school project requests. We will also go over the meeting process and date selection for your May Morning Meeting Takeovers.
Counselors, it might be beneficial to schedule a WIN session this month for students to be able to discuss ideas.
Please RSVP to Charity Johnson (csjohnson@starbasemn.org) if you are able to make the February 14th morning meeting. We will need to make sure we have plenty of food for all who attend!
Counselors, we would love to have you attend again as well!
When you arrive that morning at the Kitchi Gammi Club, please walk to the front desk and check the meeting location sign to find out what room we are in.

District 5580 Rotarians have a lot to proud of with the number people you have helped out in Bolivia with the thirteen clinics we have supported over the years! These clinics had over 64,000 patient visits last year. Thank you all for your support!
Harbortown is working on a grant request to assist Mano a Mano Bolivia build the Cesarzama medical clinic. This community is the farthest into the Amazon Jungle that we have ever ventured. Please let us know if you are interested in a future adventure into the Bolivia Amazon to visit the site, if we are successful in our grant fund raising and construction efforts. If you would like to participate and further assist these needy Bolivians with medical care, please let us know.
"The most virtuous war is the war against war." Paul Harris made that remark in a 1928 message to the Pacific Rotary Conference in Tokyo in which he warned of fear as the driving force that plunges nations into strife. Rotary's virtuous war against war — peacebuilding — is advancing with a new Rotary Peace Center for the Middle East and North Africa opening next year. In this issue of Rotary magazine, we look at how its graduates will become catalysts for peace.

February is Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention Month. Learn how you can get involved by recruiting candidates for Rotary Peace Fellowships at all of Rotary's peace centers. Our "Handbook" story lays out the application process.
Also this month, get to know Rotary President-elect Stephanie Urchick. One of her priorities? Healing a divided world through Positive Peace.
And in another of our feature stories, we take you to a unique vocational training program in California started by Rotary members to give classic cars a new life and young people a shot at a better future.
Use the Google Photos link below to share them with us, so we can spread the word about how awesome our members are and the impact we're making on our community!

If for some reason you are unable to switch duties with another member or you have simply exhausted all efforts to find a speaker, please notify Rick or Stephanie no later than 3 business days before the meeting (the Friday before the meeting your program is scheduled).
