This Week's Program: Loni and Horst Blumerich of Frosty  Ridge Alpaca Farm
Ilona Blumerich and her husband Horst are the owners of local hidden gem, Frosty Ridge Alpaca Farms in Hermantown.

Ilona was born and raised in New Jersey, received a BA from George Washington University, was employed by the USPS and then retired in Oct. 2019.  Ilona and her husband Horst began their alpaca adventure about 15 years ago. They spent the first few years learning about alpacas and visiting alpaca farms and shows.  They took delivery of their first alpacas in 2006.  The farm is open to the public.  Barn tours are free, and they provide educational tours to groups.  They also have a well stocked farm store with alpaca products on premises.

Their primary mission is to breed top quality alpacas whose genetics they can make available to other alpaca breeders. They support the Alpaca Owners Association in their effort to produce an exceptional herd of alpacas in North America.  The AOA's vision is to help foster a recognized and sustainable North American alpaca industry for alpaca owners, alpaca breeders, and those who design, produce, and sell alpaca related products.

"I actually had my first experience with Rotary in my hometown in New Jersey. I was awarded a college scholarship from our local rotary club for my freshman year of college. Rotary is an absolutely worthwhile and respected organization."

SAVE THE DATE - Dragon Boat Festival, August 21 & 22, 2020!

This event is our major fundraiser and we need all Harbortown Rotarians to help out with getting teams, sponsors, and volunteers to help with setting up, managing, and tear down for this event.  Set a goal to help us make the 2020 Dragon Boat Festival successful. To volunteer to help out for the event or a committee spot please contact me!
