This Week's Program: President's Dinner & Cash Raffle Drawing
As another Rotary year comes to and end, we will gather tomorrow night at Ridgeview Country Club to not only honor outgoing President Jeremy Jeannette but also to draw the winners from the much-anticipated Harbortown Cash Raffle! We will welcome incoming President Heather Salfer and wish her a wonderful year ahead.

Tomorrow night someone will walk away $10,000 richer! And that is just one of 30 prizes available.

We will bid a fond farewell to President Jeremy Jeannette and thank him for an outstanding and unprecedented year of club leadership. There will be laughs, reminiscing and fellowship as we gather for the first President's Dinner since before the pandemic in 2019.

Annual Life House Move-in Kit Shopping
Another successful home shopping excursion was completed again in support of Life House and the move-in kits needed for young adults relocating to more permanent housing in the Duluth area.

The move-in kits consist of household items such as cleaning supplies and equipment, kitchen utensils, baking and cooking pans, plates and bowls, silverware and more.

This spring, four sets move-in sets totaling $780 were purchased to fully outfit apartments for youth in need of a stable and safe place to call home.

Meet Hermans Scholar Martha Carlson
Chloe Strand recently had a chat with Martha Carlson from Duluth East High School about her future plans as she prepares to attend Williams College in Massachusetts to study Art History and Linguistics.

What are you most excited about for your future?

I am very excited to attend Williams College this fall! I am thrilled to be able to pursue new academic interests, meet new people, and explore the Williams campus and beautiful Berkshire Mountain area. I also hope to study abroad during my time in college, which is something I've always wanted to do.

What personality trait of yours do you feel will help you be successful in your college career? Why?

I enjoy trying new things, which I think will help me be successful as I go off to college. Moving across the country is a bit intimidating, but the excitement that I have about new experiences will help me adjust to life in Massachusetts.

What has influenced you most in the person you have become?

I have played the harp since I was four years old, and the experiences that I have had playing the harp, the wonderful people I have met in the music community, and the wisdom and support that my harp teacher has provided have greatly influenced my life. Harp has instilled in me not only a love of music, but also diligence, confidence, resilience, and gratitude--lessons and values I know I will take with me as I look toward my future.

Upcoming Program Duties
If you have an upcoming program duty (please check the upcoming duty roster), please be sure to secure a speaker and provide notice to Rick Oase (rickoase@yahoo.com) or Stephanie Judd (sljudd@gmail.com) as soon as that speaker is confirmed. If you are unable to confirm a speaker, consider other program ideas like a Ted Talk, presenting yourself on a relevant topic or your business, or creating some excitement for a community organization you are passionate about. It is your program, so think about what is interesting and engaging to you and share it with others!

If for some reason you are unable to switch duties with another member or you have simply exhausted all efforts to find a speaker, please notify Rick or Stephanie no later than 3 business days before the meeting (the Friday before the meeting your program is scheduled).

The Holiday Inn has dedicated a laptop for weekly Harbortown use. All presenters need to bring is a USB drive with the PowerPoint presentation (or whatever is wanted to be shown on the projector while speaking). Please share this information with your program's presenter.

Because Harbortown is asked by the Holiday Inn for RSVPs each week, Rob will RSVP each weekly presenter to ensure the presenter gets breakfast. If the presenter is bringing a guest, please let Rob know so he can RSVP the guest, as well. Questions? Please contact Rob Haglin (rhanglin@awkuettl.com).

Thank you for your help and thank you to all who are working hard to find engaging content for our upcoming sessions!

Upcoming Program Duties:

October 27: Andres Gonzalez: Dave Uric, Twin Metals
November 3: Keith Kylmala, Rotary Foundation Day
November 10: Evening Fellowship Gathering
November 17: Tony Hansen
November 24: Bob Lindquist
