Rotary 101 Factoid #3: How is Rotary structured and organized?DiagramDescription automatically generated

Rotary is made up of Rotary Clubs, Rotary International, and The Rotary Foundation (commonly referred to as TRF).

  • We all know about Rotary Clubs, each of us is a member of one.
  • Rotary International is the global service organization under which our clubs are chartered.
  • The charitable arm of Rotary is called The Rotary Foundation (TRF).
The Rotary Club is the basic building block of Rotary International where the real work is accomplished. Rotary clubs address critical issues by providing health care and medical supplies, clean water, food, job training, youth development, and education to millions of people.

Clubs are organized into districts that connect clubs with each other and to resources from Rotary International. They also train club leaders and facilitate Rotary programs like Rotary Youth Exchange. There are currently 527 districts worldwide.

Districts are organized into 1 of 34 zones for administration and support. As with districts, each zone has around 18 districts. Learn more about Rotary's structure HERE
