Morning Meeting:
HDC'S CRISIS RESPONSE PROGRAM

Join us Wednesday morning at 7:30am in our new club location

Kitchi Gammi Club, Great Hall - 2nd Floor, 831 E Superior St, Duluth, MN 55802! This week, we will hear from the Human Development Center's (HDC) Community Coordinator Cortney Buchholz and Chief Administrative Clinical Officer Katie Onofreychuk about HDC's Crisis Response Program.

The purpose of HDC’s Crisis Response is to ensure a person-centered, rapid, in-person response to mental health crises within Southern St. Louis County. The crisis response program is a robust program offering Crisis Assessments, Crisis Therapy, Emergency Department Case Management, Welfare Checks, access to Rapid Access Psychiatry, and Community Education services surrounding crisis and mental health.

Cortney Buchholz has worked in healthcare for over 20 years, providing services to patients across the lifespan. From pediatric nursing to owning an assisted living facility, the core of her practice is a loving mind, body, and spirit-centered care of the individual. As Community Coordinator for the HDC Duluth Crisis Response program, Cortney works to ensure understanding of Crisis Services within the community, grow crisis services, and decrease stigma surrounding mental health through education.

Chief Administrative Clinical Officer Katie Onofreychuk, MSW, LICSW came to HDC in 2019 and has since worked to improve clients services and clinical functioning. Through her work, HDC has become the Northland's only Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic. Katie has over 11 years of providing mental health services in various settings across the Twin Ports. She has a keen interest in developing and growing the human services workforce, has taught several courses as an adjunct faculty member in the Social Work departments at both the College of St. Scholastica and University of Minnesota Duluth, and lead robust internship programs in her places of employment.

Update on the San Rafael Medical Clinic - Bolivia
José Velasquez from Mano a Mano recently notified Harbortown Rotary that Bolivia's San Rafael Health Center is nearing completion! The construction experienced delays due to the intense rains in the area, but it will be finished by July 10th! The final construction steps include allowing two weeks for the plaster walls to completely dry before a fresh coat of paint is applied. Thank you, Harbortown, for all the help for this new Health Center!

Upcoming Program Duties
If you have an upcoming program duty (please check the upcoming duty roster), please be sure to secure a speaker and provide notice to Chloe Strand (Chloe.Strand@hdcmn.org) as soon as that speaker is confirmed. If you are unable to confirm a speaker, please contact Rick Oase (rickoase@yahoo.com) or Stephanie Judd (sljudd@gmail.com) for help, consider other program ideas like a Ted Talk, presenting yourself on a relevant topic or your business, or creating some excitement for a community organization you are passionate about. It is your program, so think about what is interesting and engaging to you and share it with others!

If for some reason you are unable to switch duties with another member or you have simply exhausted all efforts to find a speaker, please notify Rick or Stephanie no later than 3 business days before the meeting (the Friday before the meeting your program is scheduled).

President Mary Durward is bringing her laptop to the Kitchi Gammi Club for weekly Harbortown meetings. Presenters may bring a USB drive with the PowerPoint presentation (or whatever is wanted to be shown on the projector while speaking). Please share this information with your program's presenter.

Thank you for your help and thank you to all who are working hard to find engaging content for our upcoming sessions!
