Update on the San Rafael Medical Clinic - Bolivia
José Velasquez from Mano a Mano recently notified Harbortown Rotary that Bolivia's San Rafael Health Center is nearing completion! The construction experienced delays due to the intense rains in the area, but it will be finished by July 10th! The final construction steps include allowing two weeks for the plaster walls to completely dry before a fresh coat of paint is applied. Thank you, Harbortown, for all the help for this new Health Center!

Ukraine Hospice Funds Update

Bob Sherman and nurses at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, MN are working with the Lviv Municipal Hospital hospice in Ukraine to provide training for Lviv hospice nurses and volunteers providing palliative care to patients who are dying. Lviv hospice hospital has 30 beds that are almost always full with patients dying from war wounds and complications from dementia. Bob is a home hospice volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital and is working with their Hospice Manager on this project. Bob managed a 13 hour bus ride from Warsaw to Lviv successfully and delivered Harbortown's funds to the community.

Bob said the hospice needs a variety of medical supplies such as pain relievers, briefs for incontinent patients, bandages, antibiotics, and more.  Bob has purchased supplied in Poland since medical supplies are scarce in Ukraine these days and the prices are the best. That plus saving the shipping costs will result in greater value for Harbortown's contribution.

"Thank you for Harbortown's generous contribution. I'll be sure it's well spent on supplies for the hospice." ~ Bob Sherman

Hermans Scholar Feature: Sophia Voller-Berdan
Meet 2022 Hermans Scholarship Award Winner Sophia Voller-Berdan!

College: Northeastern University in Boston, Mass.
Major: Health Sciences or Engineering
Dream Career: Physician's Assistant or Software/Architectural Engineer

I think that my best trait that will help me in college is my drive. Throughout high school I have balanced being president of National Art Honor Society, a soccer captain, a member of Teen Council, a hockey manager, and a lot more. My drive and organization has allowed me to take on a lot of activities while still thriving in school work. Having this trait will allow me to succeed equally as well in college.
